A huge factory for recycling car batteries will be built in Romania. Elemental Holding invests 20 MIL. Euro

The Polish giant Elemental Holding, with a business of over half a billion euros, enters the Romanian market. The company plans to invest in a huge plant for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment, including car batteries.

The Elemental Holding Group has announced the acquisition of the majority stake in ACC Recycling Services, from Romania.

The Polish giant thus enters the Romanian market and plans to invest approximately 20 million euros.

Elemental Holding entered the Romanian market through the acquisition of ACC Recycling Services, from Romania.

The Romanian company, based in Bucharest, was established in 2021. The main object of activity is the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste, including the recycling of car batteries. Last year, the company reported a turnover of over half a million lei.

Elemental Holding announced, 3 years ago, that it would build the first plant in the European Union for the recycling of car batteries and other waste containing metals, with the help of a loan of up to 25 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ( EBRD).

Thus, through this investment, one of the largest car battery recycling centers in the world could be developed in Romania.

Investment of 20 million euros in Romania

The Polish giant Elemental Holding, based in Luxembourg, has a turnover of approximately 600 million euros.

Elemental Holding is launching in Romania, by purchasing a majority stake in ACC Recycling Services SRL, an ambitious project that will contribute to the development of the region, protect the environment and support the circular economy”, says the company’s announcement, quoted by Financial newspaper.

Of the amount that will be invested in the factory in Deva, approximately 8.4 million euros constitute non-reimbursable financing through the PNRR.

The Polish giant is present in 35 countries in Europe, Asia and North America. It is the largest operator of electrical and electronic equipment waste recycling in Europe.
