A “kidnapping” on TikTok mobilized 100 police officers

A “kidnapping” on TikTok mobilized 100 police. A 13-year-old minor is being investigated, and her parents could be sanctioned for not supervising her, after, responding to a challenge on TikTok, she called 112 in which she complained that she had been kidnapped.

In the “rescue” of the young woman, 100 people from the structures of the IPJ Braşov were involved for two days.

According to a statement sent by IPJ Braşov, on Tuesday evening, through the single emergency number 112, a notification was received from a female person, who claimed that she was taken by force by unknown persons and climbed against her will in – a motor vehicle.

“At the time of making the call, she (young woman-no) could not provide answers to the essential questions of the operator regarding her identity, the description of the vehicle or the location where she was, and the conversation was interrupted, without being able to be called back. Considering the seriousness of the reported situation, the police acted immediately, mobilizing extensive teams of workers and carrying out complex locating and investigation activities. Although the information provided was extremely limited, through the use of advanced location techniques and the corroboration of other data obtained from the field, on October 17, three home search warrants were issued in the Săticel neighborhood, in the city of Zărneşti”, informed IPJ.

Following the searches, in one of the buildings, the police identified the phone from which the emergency call was made, but also the person who generated the false alert – the 13-year-old young woman, who was at home with her family.

“The girl admitted that she invented this scenario after receiving a challenge on a social network, thus reporting a non-existent kidnapping. After making the call, she refused to answer the insistent calls of the 112 operator, closed the mobile terminal and threw away the SIM card to avoid identification”, said the quoted source.

According to the IPJ, almost 100 forces from the Criminal Investigation Service, the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service, the Public Order Service, the Forensic Service, the Special Actions Service, the Brasov Municipality Police, the Râşnov Station Police, the Police Zărneşti City, as well as other operative structures of the Romanian Police.

After clarifying the situation, the police have drawn up a criminal file, at this moment investigations are being carried out under the aspect of committing the crime of misleading the judicial bodies, but, in the case, the possibility of applying punitive measures against the parents of the 13-year-old minor is also being analyzed , for the lack of its supervision, mentioned the quoted source.

Misleading the judicial bodies is punishable by the Penal Code with up to three years in prison or a fine
