A. League leader detained in Maheshkhali in environmental case

Awami League leader Rabiul Alam has been arrested by the police in a case filed by the Department of Environment for allegedly cutting parabons and killing shrimps in Maheshkhali. Rabiul Alam Maheshkhali Qutubjom Union general secretary of Awami League.

On Friday (November 8) at 1.30 am, he was arrested from Ghativhanga in the upazila under the leadership of SI (Deputy Inspector) Mohsin Chowdhury of Maheshkhali Police Station.

This has been confirmed by the officer in charge (OC) of Maheshkhali police station, Qaiser Hamid. He said that one person named Rabiul Alam has been arrested by Maheshkhali police station. There is a case against him under environmental law. Legal action is pending against the detained accused.

Arrested Bariul Alam has been accused of encroaching government space by cutting parabons and shrimps in Sonadia, Ghatibhanga of Qutubjom.
