a major update with a “surprising” feature

L’Apple Watch Series 10 has made its debut in the hands of reviewers, with several publications and YouTube channels in the US publishing their first impressions ahead of the official launch, scheduled for Friday. The new version of the popular smartwatch introduces a series of improvements and a feature that has surprised many users.

Thinner design and larger display

The main novelties of the Series 10 include larger displays with 42mm and 46mm case sizea thinner design (nearly 10 percent thinner than the Apple Watch Series 9), and a new color option in Jet Blackwhich uses a polished aluminum finish. Other updates include the faster chargingthe ability to play audio through the built-in speaker, thevocal isolation for calls, and new apps for water activities, such as Depth e Tides.

One of the most interesting additional features is the ability to monitor the sleep apneaintroduced with watchOS 11, also available on previous models such as theApple Watch Series 9 and theApple Watch Ultra 2.

Larger display

The Verge’s Victoria Song raved about the Series 10’s larger displays, saying they were worth every extra millimeter:

I normally balk at the trend toward larger displays, but the Series 10 is an exception. (…) I don’t miss the Ultra’s display at all. The Series 10 is half the weight, and at just 9.7mm, it’s about 30% thinner. It fits easily under jacket sleeves, doesn’t get in the way during Pilates, and stays put while running.

Sleep apnea detection function

The function of sleep apnea detection has attracted a lot of attention, although reviewers haven’t had a chance to test it out thoroughly yet, as it’s only been released recently. This feature uses the Apple Watch’s accelerometer to track your wrist movements which may indicate disruptions in breathing patterns during sleep, a potential sign of sleep apnea.

Apple said the feature is now available in more than 150 countries and regions, and is designed to offer support to those who struggle with nighttime breathing issues.

Finitura Jet Black e design chic

Forbes’ David Phelan praised the new model’s slimmer design and Jet Black finish, noting the comfort and elegance of the Series 10:

The 46mm Series 10 feels much more discreet than the Ultra 2, and it feels more premium to wear. (…) Weighing just 42 grams, the difference to the Ultra 2 (62 grams) is really noticeable.

The new Jet Black finish is achieved through a high-speed anodizing process 30 stepswhich gives a glossy, premium look, similar to that of theiPhone 7 of 2016.

Audio via speaker

CNET’s Lexy Savvides tried the audio playback feature through the built-in speaker, finding that while the sound quality is decent, it’s not quite as good as a phone:

I did a non-scientific test by playing a rock track at full volume. Indoors, in a quiet environment, my colleague could hear the audio from about 20 feet away, but outdoors, with background noise, he had to be right next to me to hear it.

The maximum volume recorded by the Apple Watch Series 10 was approximately 92 dB with louder tracks, but most of the tracks sat between 80 e 87 dB.

Voice Isolation: A Feature That Surprises

One of the features that most impressed reviewers is thevocal isolation. The Neural Engine in Apple Watch isolates your voice from background noise, making calls clearer, even in noisy environments. This feature isn’t available on Series 9 or earlier, but is available onApple Watch Ultra 2.

Savvides described vocal isolation as:

Surprisingly effective. (…) I wanted to test it in the noisiest possible environment, so I went to a dance event in San Francisco. Even though the drums were deafening, the person I was on the phone with could hear me clearly, as if the drums were a block away.

Quick charge

Todd Haselton di CNBC praised the Series 10’s fast charging, highlighting the convenience of getting up to80% charge in just 30 minutes. This is thanks to the new charging coils positioned under the rear glass:

Charging is fantastic. Just a few minutes while reading a book or taking a shower gave me enough juice to get through the day.”

L’Apple Watch Series 10 looks to offer a major upgrade, with a thinner design, larger display, and innovative features like voice isolation and sleep apnea detection. But what really stands out is Apple’s attention to detail, from the Jet Black finish to the ultra-fast charging.

This version is aimed at an audience looking not only for a functional device, but also a tool that integrates perfectly with their lifestyle, whether it be work, sports or simply staying connected. Vocal isolationin particular, is a feature that could radically change the way we use the smartwatch for calls.
