A man from Mureș county was detained for 24 hours after, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, he allegedly hit several wild pigs with his car. Seven animals died in the incident, according to law enforcement.

The incident in question took place in Crăciunești commune in Mureș county, according to News.ro.

“On July 20, 2024, during the night, the officers of the 4th Ungheni Rural Police Department were alerted to the fact that, in Crăciunești commune, near the forest, a man had hit a herd of wild pigs with his car. On the spot, 7 dead wild boars were identified, which were later left in the custody of the game warden, being transported to the Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Directorate in Mureş, in order to carry out the necropsy”, announces Sunday, July 21, IPJ Mures.

The person suspected of committing the act was identified as a 36-year-old man from Crăciunești, who was taken to the police headquarters for questioning. Following the administered probation, he was detained for 24 hours.

The police officers of the Mures Explosive Weapons and Dangerous Substances Service went to the scene of the crime, in order to carry out specific investigations according to their competences. The investigations are continuing for the crime of poaching, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Mureş Court.
