A man was detained in Valmiera for threatening to shoot passers-by

A man has been detained in Valmiera for threatening to shoot passers-by, said a senior specialist from the public relations department of the State Police. Vaskane is a woman.

Last Sunday, October 6, a call was received on Statjas Street in Valmiera about a man who was acting aggressively and shouting in the yard. He left the scene before police arrived, but a police report was filed.

A follow-up call was later received in which the woman reported seeing the same man on a black scooter shooting what appeared to be a gun into the air. After this, the man entered the store, put an object that looked like a pistol on the counter, and stated that he was going to go to the center of Valmiera to shoot passers-by.

The man, born in 1974, was promptly detained and taken to a temporary detention facility. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and assess the severity of the threats.

Yesterday, October 8, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was taken against the man. State Police continue to ensure public safety and will take all necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
