A Matignon butler arrested in Paris with more than 50 grams of cocaine

The narcotics brigade was seized, indicates the Paris prosecutor’s office. The 26-year-old man has reportedly been on sick leave for more than a year and has never met the current Prime Minister, Michel Barnier.

While Bruno Retailleau and Didier Migaud are making announcements to fight against drug trafficking in Marseille, an employee of the Matignon hotel is in police custody for “disposal of cocaine”. Confirming information from Parisianthe Paris prosecutor’s office indicates this Friday, November 8 to that Thursday evening, around 10:45 p.m., “the police arrested the driver of a scooter for selling cocaine at the foot of a building on rue des Petites Ecuries (in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, editor’s note)”. The man had a 50-gram bag of cocaine and more than 1,400 euros in cash with him. This threshold of 50 grams – or 3,000 euros to 3,500 euros for a gram of cocaine estimated at 60.70 euros – pushed the prosecution to refer the drug brigade and the investigation “continues”.

Vincent P., 26, told the authorities that he was employed at the Matignon hotel as a butler. More precisely, it would be “server at the office” de Matignon, a service which organizes meals and receptions. According to the Parisianthe suspect’s place of work was quickly confirmed, after investigators seized his accreditation badge at Matignon. But the man also clarified “haven’t worked there for almost a year due to sick leave”indicates the Paris prosecutor’s office. According to our information, Vincent P. would have actually arrived at Matignon at the end of 2022, i.e. at the time when Elisabeth Borne held the position of Prime Minister. He would have gone on sick leave on March 16, 2023, before switching to “serious illness” leave since December 1, 2023. A status reserved for civil service contract workers suffering from an illness making it impossible for them to carry out their activity. This leave would thus have been renewed until May 2025. His last visit to Matignon dates from April 18, 2024, Vincent P. would therefore never have crossed paths with the current Prime Minister, Michel Barnier.

Bad timing

Contacted, the Prime Minister’s office did not wish to comment. However, the affair stands out at a time when the government is communicating excessively to show its determination to fight against drug trafficking. This Friday, the Minister of the Interior and his counterpart of Justice were in Marseille to present a battery of measures, while violent news items linked to drug trafficking have multiplied in recent months, in the Marseille city but also in Rennes or in Nice. “The teams of the Paris prosecutor’s office working on the fight against organized crime at the national level (will) thus be reinforced by 40%”announced Bruno Retailleau in particular, specifying that cthis cell will be composed “magistrates and representatives of other ministries concerned, Interior, Finance in particular, and criminal analysts”he detailed. The Ministry of Justice will install a “liaison magistrate in Bogota”Colombia appearing among the States “sources of traffic”, extended Didier Migaud.

A vast communication campaign will also soon see the light of day in order to “reveal the links between the use of narcotics, the violence of traffickers and the offenses that result from it, added the Minister of Justice. Beyond incarceration, we must hit criminals in the wallet, by strengthening the possibilities of seizure and judicial confiscation.”
