A more powerful threat, a new voyage… ‘Moana 2’ opens tomorrow :: Sympathetic Media Newsis ::

(Seoul = Newsis) Reporter Jeon Jae-kyung = The story behind the production of the movie ‘Moana 2’ was revealed on the 26th.

‘Moana 2’ is an adventure in which Moana, who received an unexpected call from her ancestors, sets out with the legendary hero Maui and a new crew to break the curse of a hidden ancient island in order to prevent the destruction of her tribe.

Ian Gooding, who was in charge of the production design of this work, said that he took 11,000 reference photos for the design work of ‘Moana 2’. “I didn’t want the background of the work to look like a resort beach. I wanted the island where ‘Moana’ lives to feel like a place where real people live.”

Director of photography Adolf Rusinski said, “The combination of 10,000 photo references and the artistic skills of the production crew created a sea visual that could really exist.”

The design of the giant monster Clam Island, which appears as a threatening element in the adventure of ‘Moana’, and the storm design of Nalo, the god of storms, were also created through various considerations.

Ian Farnsworth, head of animation, said, “The interior of Shell Island is beautiful, but the exterior evokes fear. We added a whirlpool to make it look as if Moana and her group were being sucked into the clam to create a sense of danger.”

As the storm of the storm god Nalo is responsible for the climax of the story, various technologies beyond imagination were needed. “The storm unfolds over eight sequences,” explains Dale Mayeda, head of effects animation. “The storm that Nalo controls is not just lightning, it’s artfully staged lightning.”

Director Rusinski said, “As the storm begins, there is a big change in color. The lighting, effects, story, modeling, and layout teams met regularly to make the huge storm a reality.”
‘Moana 2’ will be released on the 27th.
