Ferrari has never officially built its own two-wheeler, but this custom motorcycle maker is about to change that.
Maxwell Hazen has shared the progress of his latest creation, as he attempts to fit a V8 engine from a Ferrari F355 into a custom-built frame.
The F355 unit is a highly regarded power unit, with a volume of 3,495 cubic meters and a power of 370 “horses”.
So, that’s a lot of engines, any way you look at it, but the bike you put the engine in should be up to the task of taming the Maranello horse. Hazen’s motorcycle looks more and more sporty, and the shorter engine gave the machine a more “normal” length.
Second, there’s the suspension, and Hazen isn’t taking any chances on that front as what appear to be chunky Ohlins forks grip the front wheel spindle. These are paired with Brembo Monoblock brake calipers at the front, which should at least help lift the heavy machine – the engine and ancillaries alone are estimated to weigh around 300 kilograms!
At the rear of the bike we find a custom made swingarm, and although it is not directly visible in the pictures, we can see the Ohlins remote preload adjustment. It is not yet known whether this is mounted conventionally and connected to the rear fork, or horizontally and actuated by a lever.
The motorcycle may be sporty, but it is not finished, and from the looks of the project, there is still a lot of work to be done before we see it in action. However, we will keep an eye on Hazen’s social media channels to let you know when the work is complete!
