A loud bang, then the collapse. Fear in Caprarola, in the Viterbo area, where during the night a large boulder collapsed right on the road which fortunately, at that time, was empty of people or cars. As soon as the alarm was raised, the firefighters, the carabinieri and civil protection volunteers arrived on site to make sure no one was hurtsecure the road and proceed with the surveys. The entire area of the road in Pilo has been closed to vehicular traffic and pedestrians, causing inconvenience for people living in the area.
Huge boulder collapses in Caprarola: what happened
The roar, then the collapse. This is what the inhabitants of Caprarola, a municipality in the Viterbo area, heard on the night between Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November, where a huge boulder collapsed on the road. Fear, especially for those who live in historic center of the townit was a lot, due to the unexpected bang in the middle of the night: fortunately there were no injured people.
The damage caused by the boulder
However, the damage was extensive, starting, as can be seen from the images, from a sign and a lamppost which, under the weight of the large boulder, burdened by the speed acquired, collapsed to the ground, uprooted from the asphalt. Two cars were involved, overwhelmed and crushed, while a third was damaged. A fountain was destroyed and a small farmhouse was severely compromised which, fortunately, is unused.
