Google has spent the last few weeks rolling out major Android updates. Not only have we in fact witnessed the release of Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1but Android 16 DP1 arrived much sooner than expected. With all this stuff, it’s easy to overlook some of the less important updates, but a new update has just arrived on the Chromecast.
Chromecast units with Google TV are now getting access to the firmware STTL.240812.006.N1. Download from 59 MB it’s noticeably smaller than last month’s 83MB version and remains at the same patch level as September.
This means that the update Chromecast Android 14 that many have been waiting for is not yet arriving. Likewise, another highly anticipated big update for Chromecast with Google TV, namely the resumption of the Google TV Streamer Home panel, will not happen as part of this release. If you have not yet received this update on your Chromecast with Google TV, just check by going to Settings > System > About > System Update.
