A new brand is about to arrive in Europe: ecci Changan

Among the four “big” Chinese cars there is Changan. The Chongqing manufacturer founded in 1990 and protagonist of joint ventures at home with Suzuki, Mazda e Ford will arrive in Europe from the end of 2024, with the intention of reaching all countries (including Italy) by 2028.

The first model sold in Europe will be the Deepal S07a 100% electric crossover born from the collaboration with Huawei and CATL which in China is sold for the equivalent of around 23,000 euros.

The program

Changan intends to launch its operations in Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands in 2024. Specifically, the brand has already registered its branches in Germany and the Netherlands in September. Subsequently, the company plans to extend its presence to Switzerland, Sweden and Finland in 2025, then arrive in Spain and Italia in 2026.

Entry into the UK market is expected in July 2025, while by 2028 the company aims to establish itself in all the main markets of the Old Continent. Apart from the Deepal S07, the brand also plans to introduce models full hybrid e ibridi plug-inalthough no further information has been provided at this time.

The S07 “speaks” (also) Italian

The design of the Deepal S07 has been taken care of in the center of Italian design of Changan based in Turin. In fact, to support European expansion, the company is making use of local skills and international partnerships.

Since 2003, the company has had a design center in the Piedmontese capital and has subsequently expanded its presence in the United Kingdom and Germany. Changan currently employs a team of several hundred people in Europe, with the aim of developing vehicles that meet the specific needs of the European market.

The company is also increasing its commercial, logistics and sales activities, and is recruiting local dealers to establish a sales and service network. In the coming months, more details will be provided on how and where to purchase the “European” Changan models which could be direct rivals of the Leapmotor.
