During the election campaign, the Republican candidate for the US president, Donald Trump, is attracting attention with increasingly vulgar statements at rallies and towards his opponent, the nominee of the Democrats, Kamala Harris.

New and old generation of champions: Arnold Palmer (left) and Tiger Woods in 2000.
During an appearance in Latrobe, the hometown of golf legend Arnold Palmer, Trump spoke about the late athlete.
“Arnold Palmer was a man through and through – and I say that with all due respect to women. When he was showering with other pros, they came out and said, Oh, my God. This is unbelievable,” he said during a meeting with voters in the US state of Pennsylvania.
The comment, which appeared to refer to the size of Palmer’s private parts, caused an uproar. Trump himself probably realized that he went a bit too far with his comment.
Shortly after, he added: “I had to tell you the shower part because it was true. And we want to be honest.”
The late Palmer, who was nicknamed ‘The King’, is still a well-known figure in the US, and the popular mixed drink of iced tea and lemonade is also named after him.
Palmer began his career in the 1950s. Along with other stars such as Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, he contributed to the great increase in popularity of the hole game in the 1960s.
The New York Times wrote about the former president’s story: “Trump is reaching new levels of vulgarity.” At the same rally, Trump also called his rival Harris “a f***ing vice president.”
Harris responded to Trump’s statements in a televised interview: “The American people deserve something much better.
The President of the United States must possess a certain level. Trump’s behavior humiliates the office of the president,” said the 60-year-old politician.
