Between provocative contemporary art and theater performances closely connected to contemporary themes and issues, Vanner Collective offers some of the most challenging events of November in Bucharest. From redefining the concept of beauty in photographic art to images of a couple’s life in the context of a reality with restricted communication to the limitations of the former Twitter, or to insights into transgenerational trauma and the process of reconciliation and integration of all the presences that inhabit us, the Vanner program from next month it gives voice to a multitude of ideas that concern more and more the world in which we live.
Between November 1 and 13the exhibition To Know the World will be open to the public in The Media Foyer of the Bucharest National Theatre. Photo artist Alina Rotaruset designer Cristina Mileathe video makers George Rotaru and Cristi Opreabrought together by the curator Denisa Nicolae propose an exhibition with multiple ways of artistic communication, inspired in equal measure by the work of Constantin Brâncuși, by the underground connections woven by mycelia and by the beauty of people with disabilities. The project gathers these threads of inspiration and creativity into a unique bundle, meant to reveal the beauty in imperfection, evoke empathy and provoke curiosity and introspection.
November 3 – Lemons. Lemons. Lemons. Lemons. is a show with Denisa Nicolae and Liviu Romanescuafter a text by Sam Steinerwhich speaks to the tension between the limitations of communication and the limitless feelings behind words. At the same time, the show is a meditation on politics as a roller coaster that overturns the existence of ordinary people and on the new forms of being together, virtually, with all their rules and constraints. For anyone tired of social media and the endless campaigns all around, Lemons. Lemons. Lemons. Lemons. Lemons. it can be a wonderful example of resistance and escape.

November 9 – The latest show Vanner Collective, Livestockis an allegory, a kind of “Animal Farm”, in which the characters are a sheep, a pig, a cow and a donkey, caught between their own dreams and aspirations and the crushing need to conform. The pressure of the existential template manifests itself on multiple levels – socially, professionally, even spiritually, and all the elements of personality that stick out from under the edges of the template are very close to being cut off at any moment. It is a situation that not only young people face, and the team gives a clear and sharp voice to these anxieties, in a serious show that also knows how not to take itself too seriously.

November 10 – All that is wonderful in the world is (almost) a one-woman-show with Denisa Nicolaein the role of a daughter and then of a woman who seeks, since childhood, to identify as many things as possible that make life worth living. The show invites understanding and empathy, calling the audience members to play as well, in a story with deep emotional resonances, capable of inspiring and opening the way to hope and healing.

November 15 – Between society’s expectations and individual needs, male identity is caught in a tumultuous transition. Behind the warrior masks, motivational speeches and recipes for success, men struggle to integrate their own emotions, fears and vulnerabilities into authentic personalities that can cope with the demands of the world around them. show Komorebi. The light filtering through the trees is the story of such an initiatory path. man vs. Fear. man vs. Trauma. man vs. Self. Love and acceptance, humor, gentleness, sincerity, all these keys to authenticity are put into relation in the context of this dramatic conflict, in a show as tender as it is profound, with Liviu Romanescu in the main role.

November 16 – Lungs is the longest running show Vanner Collective. Based on an international award-winning text by the author Duncan Macmillanthe show presents a familiar yet novel story – a young couple trying to make decisions whose normality is challenged by the world they live in, with its increasingly… abnormal problems. In the context of eco-anxiety that is beginning to encompass an entire generation, the most natural future plans and natural desires to be parents become issues of discussion and points of conflict around which any relationship is stretched to the limit. A bittersweet comedy with surprising depths, with Denisa Nicolae and Liviu Romanescu.

November 29 – A writer loses her voice the night before her mother’s funeral, literally and figuratively. Cassandra it’s a show about femininity and identity, how burdens can be passed down from mother to daughter, and the enormous effort it takes to integrate all of that into a functioning person. Denisa Nicolae and Mihaela Velicu offers a kind of acting kaleidoscope, guided by the director Leta Popescuin this mirror show, where the audience can capture their own internal struggles and their own family relationships.
