A North Korean general was wounded in the recent Ukrainian “Storm Shadow” missile attack on the Kursk region in Russia, the “Wall Street Journal” (WSJ) reported, citing an unnamed Western official. The official did not specify the severity of the injury.

The newspaper said it was the first time a Western official had confirmed that a high-ranking North Korean military official had been injured in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Ukrainian and Western officials told reporters that Ukrainian forces fired at least 10 British “Storm Shadow” missiles at the Kursk region on Wednesday. It later turned out that the rockets hit the headquarters where Russian and North Korean generals were, Unian reported.

US officials claim that more than 10,000 North Korean troops are deployed in the Kursk region.

US President Joseph Biden allowed Ukraine to use US ATACMS missiles to carry out attacks against targets deep in Russia. US officials said the decision was made in response to Moscow’s decision to request North Korean troop support.
