The morning of December 10 was a normal hunting day for hunters in the vicinity of Krivanda near Ludza, until a pack of wolves tore their West Siberian husky apart in a few moments. All that was left of the dog was the head and the right front paw, reports Medibam.lv.
Border guards say that there are many wolves walking along the Latvian border, 15 in each pack.
The hunt was on. Norwegian Elkhounds followed the tracks of the wild boar, and the West Siberian husky followed the tracks of the elk. The boar was shot. In turn, the GPS signal of Boni’s husky disappeared for a short time. When it was found again, the device showed that the dog was nearby. Everything lasted no more than an hour.
The hunters went to the signal. When they got to the dog’s location, they saw that all that was left of their faithful assistant was the head, the right front paw and a piece of skin. The dog was literally torn to pieces and eaten almost completely…
This was done by a pack of wolves, which were not at all disturbed by the hunting and shooting that was happening very close by.
Not long ago, three dogs were killed in a relatively nearby village.
As of December 18, 294 wolves have been killed this year. Consequently, wolf hunting in this hunting season is now permitted only by application, in agreement with the State Forestry Service.
