A pensioner has been detained in the Crimean city of Simferopol, who is suspected of killing her own grandchildren 25 years ago. This reported Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
According to law enforcement agencies, the murder took place in 1999 in Irkutsk. At that time, security forces found two children’s corpses in an apartment building. The investigation established that it was the grandmother who was involved in their murder, but the woman managed to hide from law enforcement officers.
In 2001, a woman’s body was found in Irkutsk, which, according to descriptions, resembled the wanted woman. However, it turned out that she was mistakenly identified as a defendant in the case. On this basis, the case was closed.
25 years later, a woman came to the Russian Interior Ministry Department for Simferopol with a request to restore her passport. According to the elderly woman, she had lost her current document. After checking the data in the Interior Ministry database, the police found out that this woman completely matched the description of the criminal wanted in 1999. The suspect was detained and sent to Irkutsk.
The investigation of the criminal case has been resumed.
