A resident of the Northern capital and a local police officer from the Admiralteysky district were detained on suspicion of organizing illegal migration. Investigators uncovered the criminal scheme of the accomplices.
From January to October 2023, a St. Petersburg woman fictitiously registered at least 83 visitors from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan for migration registration in her hostel, the press service of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg reported.
The woman also, for money, prepared a package of documents for migrants to obtain work patents. And the attacker solved the problem of missing deadlines for filing applications with the help of a police officer she knew. According to investigators, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs drew up protocols for foreigners, due to which the period for submitting documents was increased to 90 days. For his services, the district police officer charged 500 rubles per report. Thus, the policeman managed to “earn” 13 thousand 500 rubles.
Searches were carried out at the suspects’ places of residence. To date, the detainees have been charged and have admitted their guilt.
Earlier it was reported about another scheme for fictitious registration of foreigners, which was invented by a janitor and an unemployed St. Petersburg resident.
