A powerful gaming smartphone, and also inexpensive. Impressions of the latest realme 13+ 5G

How to make a good gaming smartphone? You can write on the box “this is a smartphone for gaming“, you can make a beautiful kit so that inside along with the device there are some goodies in the form of an external cooler and a gamepad, but this is all, by and large, marketing ploys.

realme took the most correct route and did not lure potential buyers with beautiful inscriptions on the packaging. Instead, the guys took it and placed it in a case with an unusual matte texture:

Dimensity 7300 Energy processor
powerful VC cooling system
OLED display with Full HD+ resolution
support for 120 Hz refresh rate

Plus to this There is a special GT gaming mode on board and support for 90 frames per second in gamesso that everything on the screen happens as smoothly as possible and is comfortable for the eyes.

This smartphone is called realme 13+ 5G and looking at the box you can’t say that inside there is a device that dials more than 750,000 points in AnTuTu. I myself did not expect anything special from a device for 25,000 rubles, but after a week of use I can say for sure: this smartphone deserves the closest attention for its speed and appearance.

Let’s look at it from all sides:

Design

The back of the case seems to be made of liquid metal.

realme have found their own style in smartphone design and stick to it steadfastly. This style is expressed in the round “puck” of the camera block, which looked quite harmonious back in realme 12+, and this season has migrated to the new product.

In fact, the opinions of outsiders when looking at the realme 13+ 5G range from “looks too bulky” to “oh cool design” Despite this, I note that every 3rd person invariably accurately named the realme brand, just by looking at the smartphone from the back.

So this is a definite plus for the designers who were able to create truly recognizable visual forms for the device.

The case itself is plastic, but thanks to the matte texture of the back cover, it feels pleasant in the hand and does not attract fingerprints. It is clear that nothing creaks anywhere, the assembly is of high quality.

The physical buttons on the right side have a clear click. At the top you can find a 3.5 mm jack for connecting wired headphones, and USB-C charging and a combined SIM card tray (2 SIM cards, or one + memory card) are located on the bottom edge of the device.

It remains to add that the smartphone is protected from moisture and dust according to the IP65 standard.

Screen

Bright, juicy and big.

The front of the smartphone is occupied by a large 6.67″ OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. There is support for a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the smartphone itself decides when to increase this parameter and when to decrease it.

For comfortable viewing of videos, there is also support for HDR10+ for better clarity, plus realme 13+ 5G is capable of broadcasting high-definition videos from streaming platforms.

The overall appearance is presentable.

Among the additional goodies, it is worth noting the presence of ProXDR technology, thanks to which the brightness of light areas of photos and videos in HDR is further enhanced, and Rainwater Smart Touch technology, which allows you to work with the smartphone screen in the rain with wet fingers.

The maximum screen brightness is 200 nits. This is a good parameter, at least under normal conditions, both indoors and outdoors, there is plenty of brightness.

Shell and chips

A familiar shell from realme on top of Android 14.

realme 13+ 5G runs on the Realme UI 5.0 user interface based on Android 14. I have repeatedly noted that this particular shell differs from other “custom” ones in its pleasant icons and smooth operation.

In addition to aesthetics, there are also practical advantages: the user has access to such features as Smart Sidebar for quick access to selected applications or contacts, Flash Capsule, which is almost an analogue of the “dynamic island” of one notorious Apple smartphone, and other useful add-ons.

As expected this season, the smartphone has built-in AI. The technology is called AI Boost 2.0, and with the help of it, realme 13+ 5G optimizes the performance of installed applications depending on user actions.

There are quite a few optional applications out of the box, and all of them can be easily removed like a bad dream.

It is also worth noting that the company promises 3 years of support, including updates for Android and security services.

Performance and tests

The smartphone flies, but does not heat up.

As noted above, realme 13+ 5G is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy processor. This is a fresh chip from 2024, made using a 4nm process technology.

At the same time, the smartphone is equipped with 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of internal UFS 3.1 memory. Together with a powerful cooling system in the form of a large evaporation chamber with an area of 6050 sq. mm (Reduces smartphone temperature by an average of 19 degrees), the device practically does not heat up both when using fast charging and during gaming sessions.

Geekbench tests are impressive: the smartphone easily scores 1053 points in single-core and 2965 in multi-core tests.

Test results.

The smartphone is more powerful than many more expensive models from other brands.

Yes, we’ve seen more, but let’s compare it with some other smartphone of approximately the same price category.

Redmi Note 13 Pro with MediaTek Helio G99-Ultra processor was at hand. It sounds impressive, so I decided to run both smartphones through AnTuTu.

Here are the results:

On the left is Redmi Note 13 Pro, on the right is realme 13+ 5G. The difference in “parrots” is obvious.

For the sake of order, I checked the performance of the internal memory:

Again realme 13+ 5G (result on the right) is in the lead by an impressive margin.

By the way, in the overall world ranking of smartphones in AnTuTu realme 13+ 5G is in 92nd place. This is a good result, considering that the rating takes into account all smartphone models on Earth.

It is clear that in terms of games this is an excellent device that easily runs all modern projects. In everyday mode, no lags or freezes were noticed at all, the interface works smoothly, applications launch quickly.

In CoD Mobile, the smartphone produces a confident 90 fps (in the same Redmi Note 13 Pro the maximum value is 60 fps), plus using the special GT Mode, you can play with the device’s clock speed settings, as well as enable the Game Focus Mode or change your voice in game chats using the Voice Changer function.

Cameras, how they shoot

There is no wide-angle camera, although it seems like there is one.

Although the smartphone is not positioned as a “camera phone,” the main module here is the Sony LYT-600 lens with a resolution of 50 megapixels.

See example photos below:

The detail is good.

The colors are vibrant even in cloudy weather.

The dark tunnel did not go in squares.

Well, purely a postcard.

Moving objects are clear, good job:

There are no smeared cars, the shooting speed is good.

In general, the camera is a strong four. Suitable for amateur photos, color rendition is good.

The front selfie camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels; for video calls you don’t need more.

Battery, charging

Nice charging animation.

realme 13+ 5G is equipped with a decent 5000 mAh battery. This is now practically the standard in terms of the “autonomy-quality” ratio.

With normal use, the device easily lasts for almost two days, and if you get stuck into games, the charge will last for 7-8 hours of intensive work.

The realme 13+ 5G comes with 80W fast charging that can charge the smartphone from 0 to 100% in just 45 minutes, which is quite impressive.

What’s the result?

Top for your money.

realme 13+ 5G turned out to be a fairly balanced and productive device for its money. A powerful processor, a good, large and bright screen, fast memory and the ability to install microSD cards – all this is present, but what else do you need from a good smartphone?

As a pleasant bonus, I would like to note the pleasant texture of the case and the presence of a jack for wired headphones. Although the latter is not in trend now, I personally know several people who prefer to listen to music via wire, which means this connector is still in demand. Even if it’s not the same as before.

One of the downsides is the lack of a wide-angle camera, but personally, I don’t use it very often on my smartphone, so I didn’t suffer too much. Otherwise, realme 13+ 5G will be an excellent daily companion, which will show movies, open heavy files, and allow you to play games without obvious throttling.

What is the price:

realme 13+ 5G 8+256 GB: 29,999 rubles
realme 13+ 5G 12+256 GB: 32,999 rubles

The guys maintain their title of “people’s brand”, I recommend trying the realme 13+ 5G and seeing for yourself.
