A project for youth development and space improvement is being implemented in Daugavpils

On Thursday, January 16, at a meeting of the Daugavpils City Duma, the draft of the European Union Erasmus+ program “Green Light for Youth” was approved, the purpose of which is to promote positive changes and improvement of premises for young people, according to the municipal portal.

During its implementation, Daugavpils youth will have the opportunity to take part in events, gain insight into project management, entrepreneurship and social participation. They will take part in an experience exchange trip to the multifunctional center for youth initiatives Kvartāls in Livani, as well as in creative workshops and meetings. Classes on the topic “Long-term development” will also be organized. Young people from different neighborhoods of the city and social groups, including young people with special needs, will take part in the events.

The main idea of the project is to improve the premises of the Daugavpils Center for Youth Initiatives, where young people will be able to get together, share experiences and implement their ideas. Members of the Youth Duma and the most active youth will jointly decide on the purchase of the necessary equipment. It is planned that it will be mobile so that it can be easily moved. Once the project is completed, the space will continue to serve as a meeting place for young people, promoting active participation in community life and cohesion activities.

The Youth Council and young residents of Daugavpils will be involved in planning the events, and the Department of Youth and Sports emphasizes that this target group will be proof that useful activities cannot be implemented without their own participation.

The project costs (3,150 euros) are covered by funds from the EU Erasmus+ program. Financing of the Daugavpils municipality will amount to 630 euros, which will be returned after the completion of the project.

The project began on January 1 and will continue until May 31.
