The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced that the Law on the Budget of the Republic of Serbia for the year 2025 allocated a record 149.5 billion dinars for agriculture, which represents 7.5 percent of the total revenues of the budget for the following year.

At the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly, a budget of 138.5 billion dinars was adopted for the Ministry of Agriculture, while the remaining 11 billion dinars are intended to be returned to farmers through the reduction of excise duty on fuel.

Subsidies have the largest share in the budget – over 111.4 billion intended for incentives in agriculture and rural development.

The budget for agriculture in 2025 will be increased by as much as 286 percent compared to allocations from 2015, according to the ministry’s website.

Also, the Law on Amendments to the Law on Incentives in Agriculture and Rural Development was adopted, which improves the conditions for farmers engaged in the production of milk and meat.

Amendments to the law enable a rebate for the use of certified seeds of up to 17,000 dinars per hectare, which encourages more stable yields and better product quality. Also, the right to a rebate for certified seeds in 2025 will be applicable to invoices issued from August 1, 2024 until the day of application, which makes it even easier for farmers to access these incentives.
