Controversial British-American influencer Andrew Tate and his brother may not leave Romania, the Court of Appeal in Bucharest ruled today. He thus overturned a recent decision by another court, which allowed the brothers to travel within the European Union while awaiting trial. Tate, his brother Tristan and two Romanian women face charges in Romania of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal group to sexually exploit women.
Prosecutors have appealed against the verdict from the beginning of July allowing a pair of siblings to travel around the EU. According to AFP, the appeals court has now ruled the Tate brothers’ request to leave Romania and move around the EU unfounded. “We respect the decision,” said the brothers’ lawyer, Eugen Vidineac.
Andrew Tate, 37, his brother and a pair of Romanian women face charges that they forced seven women to create pornographic images intended for paid websites. The four deny the guilt. The court released them from house arrest after a period of time, but in March the Tate brothers were arrested again by the Romanian police. She did so on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the British authorities accusing them of sexual assault. The Tate brothers denied these allegations as well.
In addition, the Tate brothers also face accusations of sexual violence in Britain, where British police also accused them of tax evasion last week, AFP noted.
Andrew Tate has millions of followers on social media where he promotes a luxurious lifestyle. According to him, he got rich thanks to investments, among other things, in pornography. He also became famous for making misogynistic remarks that got him banned from all major social networks. It also concerned the social network X, formerly Twitter, where, however, the ban was lifted after Elon Musk became the head of this company.
