A sector of Transalpina was closed to traffic due to snow

Traffic on a sector of Transalpina was closed due to snow. Which section is no longer accessible to road traffic?

Starting from Monday, November 11, 2024, road traffic on Transalpina, on the road sector between Rânca (Gorj county) and Curpăt (Alba county), will be stopped due to snow, according to a statement issued by the National Administration Company of Road Infrastructure (CNAIR).

“Starting from Monday, 11.11.2024, given the unfavorable weather conditions, road traffic is closed on Transalpina (DN 67C), between km 34+800 (Rânca) – km 79+200, (Curpăt).

We remind you that on June 1, 2024, on the mountain road sector between Rânca and Curpăt of DN 67C (Transalpina), the decision was made to reopen only during the day, between 08:00 and 18:00″, announces CNAIR.

Heavy fines for drivers without winter tires

We remind you that meteorologists issued two code yellow weather warnings during the past weekend. They are valid until Monday, November 11, 2024, for several areas in the country, especially for the southern and southeastern part of Romania.

Given the fact that it has already snowed in several areas of the country, we recommend that you have your cars equipped with M+S tires, whether they are winter or all season.

Cold temperatures and the first snowfalls have led to warnings from police, so motorists will need to be careful where they travel in the coming period and ensure their cars are properly equipped for the conditions.

Driving a car without winter tires can be fined over 3,000 lei. The car’s registration certificate will also be impounded, meaning the vehicle will not be able to be driven until it is properly equipped.

Drivers who drive on a road covered with snow, ice or ice and do not have winter tires risk between 9 and 20 fine points. They risk sanctions between 1,485 and 3,300 lei.
