In the YUGOSLOVAK Cinematheque, January will be spent, among other things, showing films by some of the most famous actors of the 20th century – Brigitte Bardot and Paul Newman.
Born Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot on September 28, 1934, the French diva became famous as an actress, singer, model, and in later years as an activist for animal rights.
She made her film debut in 1952, but gained fame with the production of “And God Created a Woman”, directed by her then-husband Rože Vadim. Along with Marilyn Monroe, she was the biggest sex symbol of the last century, however, despite her excellent physical appearance, she stopped her film career in 1974, the day before her 40th birthday, and devoted herself to the fight for animal protection. Brigitte Bardot starred in 47 films, performed in several musicals and recorded more than 60 songs. She was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1985.
From January 12 to 19, the Cinematheque will offer the audience a selection from her rich film oeuvre, and the first one in the repertoire will be the one that made her famous all over the world – “And God Created a Woman”. Among the 16 selected productions in the repertoire will be the films “In case of accident”, “Private life”, “Contempt”…
