Before Black Friday, the start of the school year is a popular time to renew your smartphone. New models can see their prices soar, like Apple’s iPhone 16 which is close to or exceeds 1,000 euros. Before presenting 14T and 14T Pro models aimed at the high end, Xiaomi announces the arrival in France of a smartphone at a very low price.
The Redmi 14C joins the entry-level segment, but it benefits from careful work on the part of its manufacturer. Xiaomi offers a thin smartphone of 8.22 thick with flat edges, displaying a weight of 211g. No noble materials on the Redmi 14C, but a plastic coating (polycarbonate) giving a metallic effect. The imposing photo block on the back gives the feeling of being in the presence of a much more expensive smartphone, but Xiaomi necessarily makes technical compromises.
A modest but consistent technical sheet
Xiaomi’s Redmi 14C features a 6.88-inch LCD screen, displaying an HD+ definition of 1,640 x 720 pixels. This panel claims a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, as well as a brightness of 450 nits with a peak at 600 nits. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra chip with 8 cores (2 x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75, 6 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) supported by 4 or 8 GB of RAM. A configuration designed for standard use (web browsing, social networks, messaging, video playback, etc.) and low-power games. Note that the RAM is expandable up to 16 GB (virtual RAM).
For the photo, the Redmi C14 is satisfied with a single 50 Mpx photo sensor (f / 1.8) on the back. Xiaomi assures that it relies on AI while a 13 Mpx selfie camera (f / 2.0) takes place at the front. In video, it is possible to film up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.
As is often the case with this type of smartphone, the manufacturer is banking heavily on endurance. Xiaomi mentions a “very long battery life” thanks to the presence of a 5,160 mAh battery. The latter is compatible with 18 W charging.
For the rest, the Redmi 14C has a Dual SIM and microSD card slot. It also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack while the fingerprint sensor is located on the side. Xiaomi is limited to 4G LTE on this model, as well as Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 5 and offers NFC.

The Redmi 14C arrives in France in two configurations:
- 4+128 GB at the price of 159 euros
- 8+256 GB at the price of 179 euros
Xiaomi offers a choice of three colors: black, green and blue.
