Two drivers were unjustifiably arrested for drunk driving in the United States: the police in the state of Tennessee did so despite the fact that none of the drivers’ blood alcohol levels reached the level that would have justified the measure, reports local reports. Jalopnik.

One of the drivers was handcuffed in August 2023 because he refused to submit to a sobriety test at the inspection site – according to him, the procedure was not justified, so he felt humiliated. Body cameras recorded the conversation with the authorities, based on which they almost immediately asked the man whether he had been drinking or not, and when he resisted further investigation, they immediately issued an order for his arrest.

The police wrote on his summons that the man smelled strongly of alcohol, his eyes were bloodshot, and his speech was less controlled.

The other case took place in December 2023, and in this case, a later investigation established that the man, who was also referred to the authorities in Tennessee, was completely sober at the time of his arrest. As soon as this came to light, he took his case to court.
