Spartak could have taken the lead right from the start, but the referee, Karabajev, called off the eleven after Biedrzycký’s hand due to Ahla’s previous foul, which was also helped by the intervention of VAR. In the 19th minute, Mikovič leaned into the ball after Holík’s cross, but goalkeeper Broda kept his place.
On the opposite side, Carbo handled the ball well in front of the penalty area and his projectile narrowly missed the right post of Spartak’s goal. There was no difference between the teams, although Wisla plays at home only in the second league.
On the contrary, its players managed to open the scoring in the 26th minute. Ahl made a cardinal mistake, whose inaccurate back pass was intercepted by Baena, and after his action another Spaniard Rodado scored into an empty net – 0:1. Spartak gave a weak performance in the first half, did not create a single goal-smelling chance. Bainović’s attempt in the 44th minute came close to it, but Broda hit it well and pushed the ball into the corner.
The coach from Trnava tried to change the image of the game by including Picha and Procházka in the second act. A quick equalizer helped the home team, in the 47th minute, after Azanga’s action, the ball reached Ďuriš on the edge of the penalty area, and he confirmed the Gunners’ instinct with a shot from the turn – 1:1.
The “Angels” got their wings and in the 60th minute turned the score around thanks to Azang. The Nigerian watched the Procházka action with Ďuriš and destroyed the stands with a great volley – 2:1. It could have been even in a moment, Rodado got a lot of space at the back post, the opponent was saved by the right post.
Otherwise, however, the Trnava players dominated and another mistake in the guests’ defense was punished in the 68th minute by Ďuriš, who routinely scored from Mikovič’s cross – 3:1. After the third goal, Spartak took their foot off the gas and let Wisla create, but they did not have an accurate shot in the signs of chances. On the contrary, Mikovič could have increased the score to 4:1.
votes after the match /STVR/:
Michal Gašparík, coach of Trnava: “It shows how beautiful football is, how thin the line between success and failure is. We could have taken the lead from the penalty, but on the contrary, we were losing after our mistake. I didn’t make the team, but I got the substitutions. After the first half, we were losing 0:1, so we have to be happy for 3:1. In Krakow, we have to play systems, organized and we must not be afraid of the atmosphere.”
Michal Ďuriš, scorer of two goals: “The first half was not ideal, but I’m glad that we mobilized, showed quality and scored three goals in the second half. We’re leading by two, but it’s treacherous, nothing easy awaits us in Krakow.”
