A TASS source reported $1 million in damages in the second criminal case of blogger Lerchek

The agency’s interlocutor clarified that the calculated amount of damage is preliminary. He also emphasized that over 250 million rubles were withdrawn about two years ago.

On October 4, a court in Moscow placed Valeria Chekalina under house arrest until November 26, 2024, with a ban on using the Internet. Chekalin will be under arrest in the Millennium Park village in Istra, Moscow region. On the same day, Chekalina’s ex-husband, Artem Chekalin, was placed under house arrest. Both pleaded not guilty.

The investigation believes that the Chekalins and their business partner signed agreements with a foreign company to implement fitness marathons. At the same time, the money was sent to foreign accounts, and forged documents with false information about the purpose of the transfers were provided to the regulatory authorities.

In March 2023, a criminal case was opened against Valeria and Artem Chekalin for non-payment of 300 million rubles in taxes. In November of the same year, the Chekalins’ defense announced a payment of 500 million rubles to the Federal Tax Service. The case was closed in December.
