The teacher from the “Saint Sava” National College in Bucharest, accused of rape and sexual assault, was urgently admitted to Floreasca Hospital, toxicology department, after trying to commit suicide, according to judicial sources cited by ProTV news.
The 51-year-old man is in serious condition, and medical intervention was necessary after he was brought from a location in Sector 3 by a mobile intensive care team, the Capital Police said.
“On July 31, 2024, at around 01:00, the police officers from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Police Section 12 were alerted through the 112 system regarding a man, aged 51, who was brought at the guard room of a medical unit in Sector 1, as a result of a suicide attempt,” the Police announced.
Teacher accused of rape tried to commit suicide
After contacting the doctor on duty, it was confirmed that the patient’s condition is extremely serious. Investigations are being carried out by the 12th Police Department for the crime of culpable bodily harm, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the 3rd District Court.
The teacher from “Sfântul Sava” College was placed under judicial control after accusations of rape and sexual assault on two students. With over 28 years of experience in education, he has taught social and human subjects and is the author of several works, including admission books and a paper on homosexuality published in 2005.
This is the second renowned teacher in Romania to be accused of such serious acts, after Lajos Kristoff, known as the “genius coach”, who was caught red-handed raping a minor in his own home and was remanded in custody for 30 days .
