A tender has been announced for the reconstruction and adaptation of the former main railway station, which is becoming a museum

In order to transform the former Main Railway Station in Belgrade into an object of the Historical Museum of Serbia, a tender for reconstruction, adaptation and rehabilitation was announced.

According to the technical documentation, the project focuses exclusively on interior works, while the facade and roof have already been renovated. The planned interventions include minimal changes to the facade carpentry and minor improvements to the roof, according to the eKapija portal.

The works are divided into several phases:

  • Reconstruction of the entrance and passage to the platforms;
  • Adaptation of the basement and separation of the attic;
  • Restoration of the ceiling of the first floor;
  • Restoration of stairs and installation of elevators;
  • Meeting museological criteria;
  • Creation of a new transformer station, a space for a diesel generator and a technical roof terrace.

The tender is open until August 16.

As eKapija reminds, in November 2020, the Government of Serbia made a decision on the relocation of the Historical Museum of Serbia to the building of the former Main Railway Stationwhich was previously evicted from the Sava Amphitheater.
