A town in France with 27,000 inhabitants has run out of police

A town in France has run out of local police. It is about Orvault, a city of 27,000 inhabitants, which still has only three municipal police officers. The others moved to other Police Departments in the region.

The city located near Nantes is facing a labor shortage, including in the area of the local police, according to Le Figaro.

The opposition blames the mayor and accuses the municipality of refusing to install surveillance cameras.

The mayor will try to attract new police officers to the city

Mayor Jean-Sébastien Guitton acknowledges the problem. He claims that police officers left for the Nantes municipal police and the metropolitan public transport unit, attracted by the bigger city and different pay packages.

The mayor also says he will try to attract new police officers to the city, including by increasing salaries.
