A wildfire in Catalonia closes a major highway and a railway line

A wildfire in northern Spain’s Catalonia region has forced emergency services to close the main AP-7 highway and a high-speed rail link, emergency services said on Saturday, Reuters reported.

A forest fire in Agullana, near Girona, has forced the closure of the AP-7 motorway and the high-speed railway from Figueres to the border with France, firefighters said.

The Catalan fire service later said it had the fire under control.

18 fire engines and five air units were sent to try to extinguish the forest fire.
