A woman from the village in focus again

The program to support women’s entrepreneurship in the countryside will provide grants for more than 100 women from Serbia, including nine entrepreneurs from the villages of Čajeti and Užice. This initiative, implemented with the support of the Government of Serbia, aims at the economic empowerment of women engaged in entrepreneurship in the countryside, as well as the preservation of old and artistic crafts. Prime Minister Miloš Vučević handed over decisions on the allocation of funds to the beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of domestic production of equipment and announcing additional subsidies for animal husbandry.

Biljana Dželebdžić from the village of Rožanstvo near Čajetina, the owner of a family dairy whose products supply more than 80% of hotels in Zlatibor, will use the new 500,000 dinars to purchase a cheese press. Her vision includes improving wastewater treatment and installing solar panels to save energy. This example illustrates how financial support can contribute to the modernization and sustainable development of rural enterprises.

All help to the most hardworking women in the agricultural sector

Minister for Family Care and Demography, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, emphasized the importance of women in the countryside as guardians of the family and support of the community. In partnership with the Ministry of Economy, a program was developed that encourages their involvement in entrepreneurship. Economy Minister Adrijana Mesarović specified that 103 women will receive a total of 50 million dinars, while 175 beneficiaries from the field of old crafts will be supported with 47 million dinars, which makes a total of about 100 million dinars of investment in these areas.

Prime Minister Vučević also announced new subsidies for animal husbandry. They include an additional 100,000 dinars per head of young cattle, with the condition that the animals remain in the household for at least three lactations. The goal is to encourage livestock development, not livestock trade. This step directly affects the expansion of the production of female entrepreneurs who rely on animal husbandry as the basis of their business

Overall support for rural women and artisans is part of the broader plan of the Government of Serbia for the improvement of rural areas. This program contributes to preserving tradition, modernizing entrepreneurship and strengthening the economic position of women, while encouraging sustainable development and strengthening domestic production. Grant winners will serve as an example for other women to get involved in entrepreneurship. This is precisely what contributes to the more even development of rural communities throughout Serbia.
