A woman has died in an apartment fire in Christianshavn

A woman has died in an apartment fire on Sankt Annæ Gade in Christianshavn on Saturday.

That is according to Stefan Ladeby, chief of duty at the Copenhagen Police.

– It is too early to say whether something criminal is behind the fire, but we are investigating based on various hypotheses, he says.

Police are not releasing the woman’s age, but say her next of kin have been notified.

No one has been arrested following the fire.

The Copenhagen Police are working on the scene and will do so for a few more hours, according to the chief of duty.

The police received a report about the fire at 06:53.

Copenhagen Police and the capital’s emergency services responded to the fire.

Several streets were cordoned off, entrances evacuated and emergency services deployed smoke divers.

Shortly after 11 o’clock, the Copenhagen Police were able to state that the fire had been extinguished.

The cordons were lifted in that connection, but the police are still working on the scene.
