About the conflict of personal, corporate and state interests

Filming of the domestic film “The Rattlesnakes” has begun: About the conflict of personal, corporate and state interests

Filming of the film started last weekend in Belgrade Rattlesnakes directed by Nikola Ljuca, with Ivan Vuković, Milan Marić, Jasna Đuričić, Tarik Filipović in the main roles, and produced by the film company Biberche.

Rattlesnakes are a drama with elements of suspense thriller and melodrama, set in today’s Serbia. This movie story about personal, corporate and state interests that conflict with love, friendship and moral principles focuses on young people and their intimate space and choices, their personal decisions and moral principles, under which they will live and love in the capitalist order without grace.

On the occasion of the start of filming, director Nikola Ljuca said, “Writing the script together with Vuk Bošković and Staša Bajac, I knew that I wanted to direct this movie in such a way as to emphasize current social processes, contemporary people and their choices, and emphasize their primarily personal the decisions they make, which are conditioned by a ruthless capitalist order that leaves little room for humanity to all of us. Our heroes are caught in the vortex of a transition that lasts too long, a transition in which everything can be bought and where people are the cheapest commodity. They are left with a choice, like all of us anyway, to decide what they want to become: criminals or victims, or both.”

What is the movie about?

The main character Nađa (Ivana Vuković) is a former activist of an NGO for human rights, who now works as an assistant to Milanka (Jasna Đuričić), the director of “Magnolia”. This large corporation buys the factory of the former giant of the metal processing industry in a consortium with foreign investors, in order to turn it into arable land. Boris (Milan Marić), Nađa’s former longtime boyfriend and colleague from a research organization, returns from Italy to Serbia and starts working for Savić (Tarik Filipović), a businessman with political ambitions. After Nadja and Boris are connected again by work, they fall into a vortex of personal, corporate and state interests, and the fate and future of a large number of people will depend on the decisions of a few.
