It is quite surreal what happened to a driver from Novara in Italy, who was speeding at 255 km/h on the A26 highway, where the speed limit was 130 km/h, just like on the roads in Hungary.
His speeding was “rewarded” with a fine of 845 euros, i.e. – at the current exchange rate – almost HUF 350,000, and his driver’s license was also taken away, but after he appealed, his punishment was revoked a few months later.
The local prefecture announced it on November 4 – just like that Autoappassionati.it reported – what is behind the unexpected turn. They decided to do so because it turned out that the speed camera that recorded the violation was not homologated. In other words: the person got away thanks to a bureaucratic mistake, that he was driving at almost double the speed limit.
At the same time, Italian and foreign drivers traveling to Italy, such as Hungarians, can expect more strictness in the future, as the new traffic regulation is expected to come into force before the end of the year. We reported on the details of this here:
