According to Apple, Spotify has lost focus on music and innovation

In an interview, Apple Music Vice President Oliver Schusser says that Spotify has lost focus on music and is no longer innovating.

In the conversation With Wallpaper, Schusser suggests that others are getting into podcasts and audiobooks, while Apple Music is clearly focused on music. “We’re positioned as the quality service,” Schusser says. “We don’t have a free version, and we don’t give anything away.” Spotify does have a free version with ads.

Schusser also says that others in the streaming market have stopped innovating, while Apple continues to do so with Apple Music, according to the vice president. Schusser refers to Apple Music Sing, Classical and spatial audio. Lyrics are also transcribed by hand at Apple.

More Beats

The majority of the interview is about the new Beats Pill. It took a while for a new version of the speaker to appear, as the company’s focus is on headphones.

Schusser promises that there will be a few more surprises from Beats as a brand in the coming months, quarters and years.
