According to leaks, the mobile version of the RTX 5090 will offer up to 24 GB of memory

According to the leak, the Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card in the mobile version intended for laptops is supposed to offer up to 24 GB of VRAM memory. New 24 Gb GDDR7 chips will be used.

The Golden Pig Upgrade Pack leaker on Weibo claims that the RTX 5090 graphics card will offer up to 24GB of VRAM in the mobile version. As the first card, it should use 24Gb GDDR7 memory modules. We will learn more details about the card when they are presented at the CES 2025 fair on January 6.

GDDR7 memories bring higher speeds and better data density compared to previous generations. Samsung plans to start mass production of 24Gb modules with speeds of up to 42.5 Gbps soon. Although most graphics from the RTX 50 series, including the desktop RTX 5090, 5080 and 5070, according to leaks, are only supposed to use 16Gb modules with a lower density. The RTX 5090 in the mobile version could be an exception, due to the limitations of the 256-bit bus.

As usual, various leakers bombard us with leaks about upcoming graphics cards before the official presentation. We know…

The small capacity of VRAM memories was problematic for most cards with a 256-bit interface, such as the AD103 or GA103. If the 5090 really has such a large (by laptop standards) VRAM, it wouldn’t have to deal with this problem. In the future, Nvidia could use this technology to increase the VRAM even in cheaper models.
