On Saturday (July 20), two rallies will be held in Bratislava. The first is Rainbow Pride 2024. The Pride of the Family march is traditionally held at the same time.
Thousands of people in the streets
In the case of Rainbow Pride, this is the 14th year. The 12th year of the Hrdí na familia march highlights the importance of marriage and family.
At 12:00, the participants of the Rainbow Pride went on a parade through the city. Subsequently, they returned to Námestie slobody, where the program is scheduled until 10:00 p.m.
Organizers said that around 10,000 people took part in the march.

Both events take place under the watchful eye of the police. She already announced in advance that she will monitor and severely punish any attempts to attack participants.
Were they planning a terrorist attack?
During the week, the police reported that the National Crime Agency (NAKA) had uncovered a dangerous, growing group as part of the fight against terrorism and extremism. As part of it, she also recorded communication regarding the planning of a terrorist attack on the participants of the Rainbow Pride festival.
According to the police, the group created channels and chat groups on various Internet platforms where people from all over Europe, the US and Russia communicated.
“These channels were used to spread neo-Nazi symbolism, hate speech and incite violence or terrorist attacks. The targets of the attacks were mainly members of various minorities, such as Muslims, Jews, migrants or persons from the LGBTI+ community,Roman Hájek, spokesman for the Presidium of the Police Force, said.
For the planning of the terrorist attack on Rainbow Pride, there was police cooperation between several European countries and the USA within Europol. Based on this coordinated activity, they carried out several interventions in various European countries, including Slovakia, in the last week. They detained several suspects and searched the house.
