According to Zelensky, Ukrainian forces are holding their positions in Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported in a video message on Saturday evening that Russian forces attempted to push back Ukrainian troops from their positions in the Russian border region of Kursk. However, according to the president, Kiev forces are successfully holding their positions.

As for the Kursk operation, Russia tried to push back our positions, but we hold the designated lines

Zelensky said.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that their forces recaptured two villages in the border area of Kursk. This area is where Ukrainian troops launched a massive incursion in August.

The Ukrainian president admitted that the purpose of the Kursk advance was to withdraw Russian troops from the front lines in eastern Ukraine. In this area, Russian forces have made steady advances in recent months.

In his speech, Zelensky mentioned that the situation in the regions of Donetsk and Zaporizhia, partially controlled by Russian forces, remains extremely difficult.

Very difficult conditions prevail, with tough enemy actions. But the resilience of our units is crucial. It all depends on our resilience

– emphasized the Ukrainian president.

The Russian Defense Ministry also announced the capture of Ostrovsky on Friday. This village lies on a reservoir near the town of Kurakhove and was a key Russian target during the advance into the Donetsk region. Although Ukraine has not officially acknowledged the loss of the village, Russian military bloggers have reported an advance in the area.
