Acer Nitro Blaze 11, the largest “portable” console in the world

Acer was the last of the PC giants to join the new wave of portable consoles, but it wants to make up for lost time in a big way. And never better said, because the Nitro Blaze 11 announced at CES 2025 is truly gigantic. The manufacturer will also launch the series in Blaze 8 and Blaze 7 versions, with a much more contained size.

The Nitro Blaze 11 It includes detachable controllers in the purest style of the Nintendo Switch and an integrated stand. It shares many similarities with Lenovo’s Legion Go. However, the enormous 11 inch IPS screen and touch technology makes this model unique. As far as we remember, it is the largest on the market, although more than a console, it is a “tablet” to which game controls have been added.

In fact, the manufacturer assures that the machine allows “switch seamlessly between daily tasks and gaming”browsing, working or playing. And its weight is quite high (more than a kilogram) and together with its screen size it will not allow the ease of use and portability of smaller models. In return, it offers superb display capacity, a QHD native resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels), a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

Its interior is not that impressive, although the processor AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS with 8 cores and 16 threads, and Radeon 780M graphics, it should be enough to move the machine. It will be accompanied by 16 GB of LPDDR5x-7500 RAM and an SSD with up to 2 Tbytes of storage capacity. Its battery is 55 Wh and it comes with a 100 W adapter.

They are connectivity It’s pretty good, with USB4 type C, USB 3.2, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. It also has stereo speakers, dual microphones, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD memory card reader, and a front camera for video conferencing. The controllers feature Hall effect sensors and the pogo pins present suggest that some additional peripherals (probably a dock) will arrive at a later date.

As you would expect from a device in this category, Acer has included some familiar touches to gamerssuch as RGB lighting around the analog sticks along with a new Acer Game Space app that is intended to serve as a game launcher and a control panel for settings. The machine runs Windows 11 and gives three months of access to Microsoft’s PC Game Pass. It will be available in the second quarter for an approximate price of $1,100.

To say that Acer has also presented at CES the Nitro Blaze 8a variant with the same hardware and battery, but with a screen of 8.8 inches and a much lower weight for better handling and portability. It will cost about $900 when it goes on sale in the second quarter.
