At this year’s IFA, Acer announced the PC handheld console called Nitro Blade 7, which was recently revealed to be very similar to the Chinese solution called Terrans Force Handle 5. This is it ETA Prime YouTube Channel made public in the video below.

This should not be surprising, as we have already seen something similar in the case of the Antec Core HS, which is admittedly an AYANEO Slide, and there is an official, mutually beneficial agreement between the two companies.

Acer’s case is different because there was no mention of Terrans Force, which basically means two things. Acer licenses the original design in such a way that they do not have to declare the source, which is obviously an acceptable factor for the owner, there is a detailed contract for them, so there is no question of theft, renaming, or the like. It might also have happened that here an ODM (original design manufacturer) design that was bought by both Acer and Terrans Force. Ergo, it is not currently known which company designed the handheld console itself, it is quite possible that it is an as yet unknown ODM, and the two companies involved license the design uniformly.

The situation is that this type of business is also taking place in the notebook market, so even some of the developments of the major notebook manufacturers are not necessarily their own, but may be constructions purchased from ODMs. And this market has been operating this way for a very long time, so it is not surprising that the business model in question is creeping into the field of PC handheld consoles as well. This was expected simply because the demands for these devices are constantly growing, so it is slowly becoming worthwhile for ODMs to come up with their own, purchasable designs.
