Earlier, a national daily reported that a police investigation officer had prepared a final report acquitting former law minister Anisul Haque and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s former private industry and investment adviser Salman F. Rahman in two cases of murder in the July-August student uprising. Attempts were also made to exonerate former Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan. However, the matter was caught before reaching the court. As a result, the investigation is being conducted again.

According to the report, documents and police sources say that the investigating officer tried to submit the final report to the court by concealing the identity of his DB and posing as a police officer. He did not take the permission of the higher officials as per the rules in this case. After the matter came to light, he went on leave citing illness.
