Active noise reduction makes its debut

Audio often plays a major role during Apple’s back-to-school keynotes. It’s not just the iPhone, and AirPods have been a staple in Apple’s ecosystem for years. The American brand is back this year with the AirPods 4, a new pair of headphones now equipped with an active noise reduction function.

Until now, this model refused to offer this now essential feature. You had to opt for the AirPods Pro to benefit from it, but the efforts of the competition are pushing Apple to react. The manufacturer opts for two versions of the AirPods 4: with or without active noise reduction technology.

Noise reduction for AirPods!

The AirPods 4 retain their open fit design, promising to be more comfortable to wear than in-ear headphones. The headphones benefit from a new acoustic architecture, with improved interactions for Siri. Apple also boasts an optimization of Apple and brings personalized Spatial Audio.

Unsurprisingly, the Apple brand is switching to a USB-C case on its headphones and promises a total battery life of 30 hours. The range includes an H2 chip and the new feature to remember is the appearance of the variant with active noise reduction.

Price and availability

In the US, Apple announces an entry ticket of $ 129 for the AirPods 4. The variant with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) will cost $ 179. We are waiting for the prices in euros.

AirPods Max headphones switch to USB-C

As for the AirPods Max, it abandons its Lightning port to adopt the new USB-C standard. A small update expected to allow the headset to comply with the USB-C charging port requirement in the EU, which comes into force on December 28.

Contrary to rumors, the Cupertino firm did not wait until the end of the year to make its new versions official, which also offer new colors. On the other hand, there are no other improvements and Apple has chosen not to touch the price of its headset in the United States: $549. The price should also not change in Europe, at 629 euros.

What about the AirPods Pro 3?

Absent from this back-to-school conference, the AirPods Pro 3 should not see the light of day before the beginning of 2025. Nevertheless, the brand has not forgotten this variant and is bringing an advanced hearing aid function that places the headphones in competition with specialized medical equipment.
