Actor Keanu Reeves made his debut in professional auto racing

Hollywood star Keanu Reeves made his professional motor racing debut on Saturday at a famous US circuit. The actor narrowly avoided a crash while competing in the Toyota GR Cup at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, reports AP News.

Reeves went off the track and onto the grass at the exit of Turn 9, just after the halfway mark of the 45-minute race. He re-entered the track and continued to drive, signaling that he was not injured.

Keanu Reeves, who qualified 31st out of 35 cars, moved up to 21st and successfully avoided a first-lap crash at Turn 14. He finished the race in 25th.

Keanu Reeves has racing experience

Reeves, 60, competed at Indianapolis in the Toyota GR Cup, a Toyota-specific race series that is part of the Indy 8 Hour event.

Reeves has previous racing experience, having competed in the celebrity race Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. He won the event in 2009.

The actor is set to attend a 30th anniversary screening of “Speed” alongside co-star Sandra Bullock in Los Angeles.
