Actor Niko Saarela: “My self-esteem couldn’t stand water running”

– I confess that I once ran in the water. I rehabilitated my knee then. The water run is slow, and my self-esteem couldn’t stand the fact that the grannies were swimming by. The flotation belt then flew somewhere, Niko Saarela says.

In acrobatics classes at the Theater School, Niko was called Stuntti-Saarela. Always rattled when throwing volts.

– I’ve started to think more as I get older, but I already have a certified orthopedist and traumatologist. I’ve gotten most of my injuries on the theater stage, but most recently I tore the cruciate ligament in my knee in football.

– Before the theater premiere or during TV filming, I don’t have time to do anything, otherwise I do sports three or four times a week. In between the work pipes, I do everything else and go to the dentist and dental hygienist, says Niko.

Before a theater performance, Niko always eats the same food and always puts on his clothes in the same order. In the theater, he goes alone to the empty stage before the audience gets into the hall and it is quiet.

– When I go to the show with a safe mind, I can improvise better in the surprises of live situations.
