Actress Jenni Kokander: “I feel good when I stay in my own rhythm”

Jenni Kokander has slept badly since she was little. Or so he thought — until the sleep tests showed that there is no sleep disorder.

– I am sensitive to everything, and I process things in my mind at night. Many times I’ve been awake and worried about whether I’ll sleep at all, whether I’ll be able to recover and how I’ll make it tomorrow. I’m so fast-paced that I can’t take a nap. I just don’t fall asleep.

A couple of years ago, Jenni made a sleep-related Instagram post, as a result of which she ended up as a guest on the sleep podcast. It was revolutionary. The sleep doctor who participated in the program said that he does not see any sleep disorder. Jenni might just recover a little differently than the others.

– It was a relief to learn that a good sleep does not mean being in a deep sleep all the time. I’ve somehow naturally thought that it’s important to go to bed on time and rest, even if I don’t sleep terribly.

On the doctor’s advice, Jenni started monitoring the quality of sleep with a measuring device.

– I almost always get more than 80 points for my sleep from the Oura ring, that’s a really good reading. I understand very well that measuring even sleep is stressful for some, but it has freed me from worrying about sleeping. I’m always worried and have a hundred things on my mind at the same time. That’s why it’s wonderful that some device tells you every day that at least in one area of life everything is fine.

“Routines are for me”

Jenni says that she needs a precise structure in her life to keep things under control.

– I love doing things always at the same time. I’m not a throwaway. I always travel to the same place and I don’t like spending the night anywhere but in my own bed. Routines help me live healthier.

The days at the theater are carefully scheduled, and that suits Jenni well. In his spare time, he does jigsaw puzzles, tends the garden or listens to audiobooks. It is good for him to be at peace and without stimuli.

– I still also love being with people, meeting, looking into their eyes, holding hands and touching. Family members are never a burden, but if I’m stressed, I might not be able to go out for coffee or take a really close friend over.
