Additional budget of 1.8 billion Euros from Iran for irregular migration and border security

“The parliament approved a defense budget of 1.8 billion euros, in addition to the budget approved last year to strengthen the defense budget,” said Ebrahim Rezai, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the parliament, at a meeting on national security in Mashhad, according to Iranian state television.

Rizai stated that the budget aims to improve security issues, especially in the east of the country, and said, “The National Security Commission’s request is to close the borders in the east of the country. At the meeting, the government’s efforts in this regard were appreciated, and it was emphasized that the closure of the borders should be accelerated and completed.”

Iran plans to close the country’s eastern borders to prevent irregular migration. President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian also said during his election campaign that they would implement plans to prevent irregular migration.
