The Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Decision on the Adoption of the Declaration on the Protection of National and Political Rights and the Common Future of the Serbian People and sent it to the Assembly of Serbia for adoption. This document will be offered to the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska for adoption, in order to ensure its full implementation in the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
The declaration was previously announced at the All-Serbian Assembly of the Serbian People of the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska in Belgrade on June 8, 2024.
At the session, the Conclusion on determining the basis for concluding a memorandum of understanding between the Republic of Serbia and the European Union on strategic partnership in the field of sustainable raw materials, value chains of batteries and electric vehicles was adopted, which envisages five directions of action: on cooperation at the industrial level, on cooperation in the field research and innovation, on the implementation of high environmental, social and management standards and practices, on the mobilization of financial and investment instruments according to EU standards and on the development of human resources necessary for the realization of all segments of this partnership.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to develop a mutually beneficial strategic partnership in the field of sustainable rare raw materials, battery value chains and electric vehicles, while strengthening Serbia’s integration into the EU single market and further strengthening its economic, social and environmental rapprochement with the EU.
The partnership will contribute to the decarbonization of the economy in accordance with the EU Green Deal and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, with the aim of a cleaner transport and energy sector, reducing CO2 emissions and achieving a green economy and creating high-quality jobs.
The partnership is based on the significant raw material potential of the Republic of Serbia and its geographical position in relation to the EU and will result in the economic growth of the Republic of Serbia and contribute to the improvement of the position for joining the EU.
The partnership will strengthen and expand cooperation in the areas of climate change, sustainable energy, sustainable materials and new technologies, in a way that will preserve the competitiveness of their economies and minimize the impact on the environment.
In particular, sustainably produced batteries, as well as the creation of the entire supply chain for electric vehicles, will be key to decarbonizing the transport and energy sectors and reducing CO2 emissions.
The partnership will further strengthen our political relations and promote long-term economic growth in Serbia and the EU and contribute to the efforts of the Republic of Serbia to join the EU.
The Government also adopted the Conclusion on the adoption of the text of the Letter of Intent on the development of a sustainable, integrated and competitive ecosystem of e-mobility in the Republic of Serbia in order to support its long-term economic growth and the creation of high-quality jobs.
