- YouTube Premium is a paid service that allows YouTube videos to be displayed without ads
- Some users still started seeing the ad
- It can be due to paid partnership and also due to bug
Some users started complaining that even though they subscribe to YouTube Premium, they were shown ads while they were playing. Just absence advertisement at the same time, it is the biggest attraction why people pay for YouTube Premium. Additional benefits such as the ability to play in the background in the Android application and others are often just icing on the cake.
Google is testing the new YouTube Premium Lite tariff, which will not remove ads completely, but will only reduce their number. One of the countries where this program is being tested is Germany. One possibility is that users who saw ads on YouTube Premium either unknowingly signed up for the test or were inadvertently included in it.
Other Reddit thread shows email from YouTube support, where one subscriber was told that “promotional ads may sometimes appear for specific partnerships or limited-time offers,” in this case referring to watching an ad for the NFL Sunday Ticket YouTube TV package. A support representative said this “could be due to a variety of reasons, such as your location, tracking history or a specific marketing campaign”. Does this mean that ads can also appear on the paid service? According to what Google reports in package promotionit shouldn’t be possible! Rather, the support confused advertisement inserted by the author directly into the video with contextual advertising.
YouTube Premium normally costs 209 CZK per month, or 129 CZK for students. You can also use the family tariff for 389 CZK per month, where you can invite up to 5 other family members. Family members must live at the same address.
Is it acceptable for you to see an ad on YouTube Premium?
